Here on the banks of the river Maniavka, there is one of the largest spiritual centres of Western Ukraine – “the Ukrainian Athos”.
The historical and architectural reserve "Maniava Skete" was founded as a monastery-skete in a picturesque corner of the Carpathians by Yov Kniahynetskyi who came from Mount Athos (1606).
At the time of its greatest prosperity, it had 556 monasteries of Eastern Europe in its subordination. It is now Maniava men´s monastery of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross of UOC-KP.
Not far from the skete, there is "Maniava waterfall" – one of the most beautiful and highest in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It cuts its way through hard Gorgany rocks and falls from a height of about 20 meters.
"Hutsul capital", the village lies between the Carpathian ranges of Chornohora and Svydovets on the banks of the wayward river Chorna Tysa. Yasinia became world-famous thanks to the masterpiece of the Hutsul wooden architecture – the Church of the Ascension (1824), so-called "Strukivska Church”, which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
A ski resort is on the slopes of Svydovets, one of the highest Carpathian ridges at an altitude of 1,300-1,700 m. You can go by a cable car-chair lift to the top of the mountain Stih (1,707m), which offers some of the most beautiful views in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Winter landscapes of Drahobrat will charm everyone with their landscapes. You can also try skiing (snowboarding), enjoy the mountain air and get unforgettable emotions.
