The largest residential area in Lviv has retained to the present day a fascinating monument of wooden architecture, the Church of the Holy Trinity (1654), about the existence of which even most of the residents of Sykhiv are unaware. According to legend, the Church was built by the Cossacks of B. Khmelnytskyi during the siege of Lviv. An original mural, dating back to 1683, decorates the monument.

The castle in Stare Selo (1584-1654g) is one of the largest in Ukraine; there are walls around its area, and it occupies 2 hectares of land. During its long life, it has been an arsenal, a winery, a warehouse and a brewery.

The former capital of the mighty Zvenyhorod principality retained the remains of the ancient settlement (X-XIII century), the foundations of the stone Church (XIII century), the road (XII century) and an incredible Museum where you can learn about the heroic past of this remarkable place. 

In this ancient village, you can see a pearl of wooden architecture of natinal importance, the Church of the Presentation of the Lord (1757).

The village is known as the birthplace of the famous Ukrainian artist and public figure, Kornylo Ustyianovych, who was born here in the family of the prominent writer and poet, Mykola Ustyianovych. To show honour and love for their countrymen, they founded a Museum-estate of the Ustyianovych family in Vovkiv. The connoisseurs of the native land will also be interested in the Church of Introduction (1702) and the ruins of the Church of Mary Magdalene (1924), built in the Art Deco style by the outstanding architect, Bronislav Viktor. In the temple, they filmed the first Ukrainian historical detective film on the work of I. Franko, “Crime with many unknowns.”

You will find an amazing example of Halichian wooden architecture, the Church of the Epiphany (1693) with a spectacular, well-preserved iconostasis.

The most remote village in Pustomyty district has preserved the signs of ancient rural life, the remains of the castle defensive walls and the Catholic Church (the 1930s).

The honey capital of Ukraine, in addition to bees and crawfish, is known for the miraculous healing of many people in the local source of Holy water. The Mother of God once appeared here. Now, the locals believe that everyone who will walk 14 times through the water around the cross will get rid of many incurable diseases. The magnificent nature, with picturesque hills and forests, helps to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city and revitalise.
