This village was the ancestral estate of the Sheptytsky family. The future Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Roman Aleksander Maria Sheptytsky, was born here. We invite you to pray in the Church of Metropolitan Andrew and the Martyr Clement Sheptytsky. You can see the neo-gothic tomb-chapel (ХІХ) of this outstanding family and learn more about their history in the museum.
This was formerly known as the town Bruchnal. Bohdan Khmelnytsky, a Ukrianian Hetman of the Zaporozhian Host who led an uprising against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, completed his glorious battle near here, which resulted in the creation of a state led by the Cossacks. The defensive Church of the Holy Trinity (1645) has survived to the present day, in which the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky was baptized.
