The most interesting and colorful festival of Malanka in Ukraine takes place in this village, near the Romanian border. The festival of Malanka attracts the attention of many people of Ukraine and the world. Five large groups of young guys dress up in bright clothes and go from house to house congratulating the residents of the village with the Old New Year. Traditional costumes include: grandfather and grandmother, gypsies with straw bears on chains, kings and queens, riders and horses and doctors. Some suits weigh more than 100 kg. Come and parade along the central street, where malankari demonstrate their unique art to residents and guests of the village.
This city is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine and Eastern Europe - and for good reason. This so-called "Ukrainian Paris," is the home of many thriving nations and cultures.
A pearl of world class level and a pride of the city are the architectural structures of Chernivtsi University. The complex of buildings formerly the residence of the Orthodox leadership of Bukovyna and Dalmatia (1864-1882), is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex of buildings is a unique blend of Moorish, Byzantine, Romanesque and Hutsul styles, that have been harmoniously integrated by the brilliant architect Y. Hlavka.
Here you will experience the City Hall (1848), the theater (1905), and a walk along the "Avenue of Stars" – devoted to Bukovyna artists. The so-called "drunk" church (1939), which stands alone for its uniqueness in Ukraine, will astound you. The House-ship (XIX c.) will provide inspiration for those who love the sea.
